What is the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?
Both are valid and effective ways of dealing with anything in your life that is causing you distress or unwanted behaviours. Counselling often deals with the 'here and now', to help you get to grips with whatever is bothering you, offering tools in order to allow you to move on with your life in a more positive way. It can help you come to terms with distressing or traumatic events, such as the loss of a loved one, divorce or an accident. It can also be an effective way of dealing with longer term problems such as grief or anxiety. Psychotherapy is very similar, however, it usually is more focussed on looking further into the past for reasons why you have developed or maintain certain behaviors or fears, here in the present day. The appointments need to be prior arranged at a time convenient to both of us, and need to be paid via direct bank transfer in advance of each session. Sessions cost £70 for an hour. Hypnotherapy combines hypnosis and therapy together. Hypnosis is simply a natural state of mind where you relax down into a comfortable state of awareness. Your body relaxes and your mind becomes more focused on the things you wish to change. Will I be under the therapists control? The simple and honest answer is no. Are there any side effects? Yes, but they are all amazingly positive ones! Most people report a energised feeling directly after hypnosis, others say they sleep far better after a hypnotherapy session. The best side effects are to do with behavioral change! People say they feel far more positive, they have gone on to change their lives radically for the better. |
